3) How to choose the clip?
The Talon Clip
is designed to meet the most common BGA packages used today. The
majority of chip packages on the market today are thickness between
0.8mm and 3.0mm (excluding the size of the solder balls). The range of
chip packages that the Talon Clip is designed to meet is divided into
three (3) categories. Each version of the clip is color coded to help
identify the differences with the range of chip packages most
appropriate for each clip. The following table defines the three (3)
categories of clip sizes and the color code for each.
Hint: To
pick the correct clip, you should always choose the heat sink
first. Once you have selected the heat sink needed for the
design then the following table will help define the most appropriate
clip to use:
| Heat sink series |
Chip set footprint (mm) |

Note
For the MW, MP, MPC
series: When the thickness of the chip package does not meet the range
of clip options available then it may be possible for us to modify the
base thickness of the heat sink to help meet your specific requirements
and application. Please contact us :inquiry@malico.com.tw
